Hello Facebook Friends or Voices Family!

Are you tired of living from paycheck to paycheck? Are you tired of borrowing from Peter to pay Paul? Do you want more for your family? If you answered yes to any of these questions, this blog is the place for you! I am inviting you to join me on a 21 Day Financial Fast that will change your life for the better. We will discuss the book, The Power To Prosper by Michelle Singletary. This book is the paradigm shift you have been waiting for. It will empty your soul, throw out the trash and replenish you with wisdom and knowledge to live a prosperous life! I challenge you to spend the next 21 days fasting with me to turn your life around. This 21 day fast consists of you only purchasing the necessities. The 21 day fast is really about reducing the need to consume. During this fast, indulgences like window shopping and credit card use are forbidden. In fact, your debit card for the most part is off limits as well.

WHAT IS A FINANCIAL FAST?

The principle of this 21 day financial fast is to bring you closer to God. For 21 days you must refrain from buying anything that is not a necessity. We are talking about the bare essentials, such as food and medicine. During this fast you will refrain from going to the mall or retail stores to shop for clothes, shoes, jewelry, makeup, etc… No restaurant meals— fast foods, breakfast, and/or lunch. You can’t even stop for coffee, nor go to the movies.

WHAT YOU CAN AND CANNOT DO DURING THE FAST

Things you can do:

  1.  Essential items such as food and medication.
  2.  Essential personal hygiene products.
  3.  Essential clothing items that would be required for your job.
  4.  Essential items for your family such as school supplies.
  5.  Essential items for your home, such as cleaning products.

Things you cannot do:

  1. Don’t go to the mall.
  2. Don’t window shop.
  3. Don’t shop online.
  4.  Don’t browse through retail catalogs.
  5.  Don’t buy meals outside the home.
  6.  Don’t go to the movies or to see a play or spend any money on entertainment.
  7.  Don’t use plastic.
  8.  Don’t allow yourself to buy things you know you shouldn’t.

WE WILL BLOG TOGETHER In order for us to follow along together, we must read a chapter per day of the book, The Power To Prosper. At the end of each day, we will blog one of two ways: My Bishop Gary Hawkins, SR. Fan Page on Facebook or our Voices of Faith Ministries website. (www.voicesfaith.org). I will participate on both sites.

Five questions and discussions will be the blog topics each day.

  1. What I am feeling today about my finances?
  2.  What was easy about the fast today?
  3.  What was hard about the fast today?
  4.  What I learned from today’s chapter was?
  5.  I am going to apply what I learned in the following ways.
